Morrissey splits with management firm
LONDON -- Morrissey has split with creative person management firm ie:music after three months. An ie:euphony spokesman confirmed that it had parted company with the ex-Smiths frontman, merely declined to give any details.
Morrissey united ie:music in May, following his split with previous managing director Merck Mercuriadis, ex-CEO of the now defunct music company Sanctuary U.S.
Other acts managed by ie:music, which is run by Tim Clark and David Enthoven, include Robbie Williams, Craig Armstrong and Sia.
It's been a tumultuous past tense couple of months for Morrissey. First, his realised new album, "Years of Refusal," was bumped from a fall release to Feb. 2 by Universal for unspecified reasons. No U.S. label is on board for the project.
Then, former label Warner Bros. announced the release of a "Live at the Hollywood Bowl" DVD, which the artist blasted as being through "without whatever consultation to me whatsoever, and in breach of their terms as set out by themselves in an agreement made for the film between Warner and my ex-manager."
And last week, manufacturer Jerry Finn, who had worked on "Years of Refusal," passed away after suffering a massive brain hemmorhage in July.

The calling of San Francisco dark metallers Weakling remains shrouded in mystery and local legend, partly the resultant of their possess efforts. Some of what is known is that they formed in the late '90s and consisted of singer John Gossard, guitarist Josh Smith (better known as a member of the (Ass) Champs), keyboardist Casey Ward, bassist Sarah Weiner, and drummer "Small Sunshine." The band's sole recording, Dead As Dreams, barely even came out, as the original plan had been to only release one copy of the album and give it to a stripling in Europe. (In that respect were besides plans to bury copies of the album and and then give customers maps so that they could attack to find oneself and dig up the album for themselves.) In addition, the band did not duty tour, and by the time Dead As Dreams did come out -- which it did in 2000, to surprising hail in parts of the metallic element metro and on the fringes of the indie careen globe -- the band had already busted up. After their dissolution, Weakling's members stayed busy with a kind of unlike projects -- Smith with the Champs, Gossard with the barbarian metallic element band the Gault, Little Sunshine with death/black metallers Sangre Amado, and Ward with the Kill Rock Stars band the Lies.

Though Iona is included with Enya and Clannad in the list of contemporary Celtic artists, the Scottish band's influences -- including jazz-fusion, prog-rock and antediluvian Christian themes -- ar more varied. Named for an island off Scotland's western seacoast, the mathematical group was formed in the late '80s by vocalist Joanne Hogg and multi-instrumentalists David Fitzgerald and Dave Bainbridge.
For Iona's 1990 self-titled debut album included further acquisitions: drummer Terl Bryant, bassist Nick Beggs (previous bassist of Kajagoogoo) and several studio musicians -- Fiona Davidson (Celtic language harp), Peter Whitfield (strings), Troy Donockley (Uillean pipes) and Frank Van Essen (tuned rhythm section). The record album standard selfsame little push, even in their home country, though a Dutch electronic network compiled a documentary based on Iona, the band and the island.
Two years later, Iona returned with Book of Kells, and the record album was praised by North American critics as intimately as those of the British Isles. David Fitzgerald left wing in 1992 to quest for a degree in music and, as a resultant, Iona lost much of its jazz influences by the following year's Beyond These Shores. The grouping made up for Fitzgerald's absence, however, by inviting Robert Fripp to edgar Albert Guest on the album. A undertake with England's Alliance Music lED to 1995's Travel into the Morn; the album was released early the following class in the U.S. and Canada. Fitzgerald returned to active recording in 1995, when he released the solo album Columcille. Journey into the Morn followed in 1996.

NYC judge tells 50 Cent to hold on to property
A judge Tuesday ordered 50 Cent to hold on to the property where a $2.4 million house at the center of a bitter dispute with his ex-girlfriend burned to the ground last month.
State Supreme Court Justice Carol Edmead also ordered the rapper (real name: Curtis Jackson) to put any insurance proceeds he might receive into a trust account pending the outcome of the $50 million lawsuit filed against him earlier this year by Shaniqua Tompkins.
Tompkins' lawyer, Paul Catsandonis, requested the orders so his client can have access to some of 50 Cent's assets if she wins a judgment. He said 50 Cent, who was not present in court, agreed years ago to give Tompkins half of his earnings for life.
The home has been the subject of an intense feud between the entertainer and Tompkins.
Tompkins, 32, claims he promised her a house more than a decade ago while she was supporting him, but that since their breakup, he has been trying to evict her and their 11-year-old son, Marquise, from the home.
The mansion in the Long Island community of Dix Hills was destroyed in a suspicious fire May 30. Authorities are still investigating the blaze.
Tompkins said outside court Tuesday that 50 Cent had threatened her earlier that week - a charge the rapper's lawyer, Brett Kimmel, denied. Kimmel said his client had nothing to do with the fire and was in Louisiana at the time making a movie.
Six people, including Tompkins and her son, were treated for smoke inhalation. The rapper didn't live there.
Also during the hearing, Edmead ordered Tompkins to pay 50 Cent $4,500 in rent for May by Friday. The rapper pays Tompkins $6,700 a month in child support, $4,500 of that as a housing allowance.
Tompkins, who started dating 50 Cent in 1995 when she was 15, said Tuesday that she is broke. "All we have are the clothes we jumped out of the window with," she said.
Tompkins denounced her former companion for failing to contact her or his son after the blaze. She said her son was "traumatized" by his father remaining on a movie set and failing to call after the home was destroyed.
"He's not a good father," she said. "He doesn't care about his son at all."
The rapper has been nominated for 13 Grammys, including nominations for the song "In da Club" and the album "Get Rich or Die Tryin'." In 2005, he starred with Terrence Howard in a semi-autobiographical movie based on that album.

Avril Lavigne's fall tour will hit China
HONG KONG -- Avril Lavigne will perform in "six or seven" Chinese cities in the fall as part of her Asian tour, Nettwerk Prods. CEO Terry McBride said Wednesday at the Music Matters conference here.
In a wide-ranging onstage interview with Mobile Entertainment Forum chairman emeritus/founder Ralph Simon, McBride also said that within the next six to nine months Nettwerk will release a new song by the Barenaked Ladies in a "multitrack" premixed version that will allow the band's fans to make their own mixes of the song. McBride said the best mix will be chosen as the Barenaked Ladies' next single.
"Rather than tell your audience what to do, why don't you shut up and listen to them?" McBride said.
And in a swipe against those in the industry who want to clamp down on peer-to-peer file-sharing, McBride said "you cannot legislate or litigate (against) public behavior."
What's crucial, he said, is how to create "an authentic relationship" between artists and their fans. "The music business is all about monetizing this behavior," McBride said.

Theatrical execs might exit HBO
Changes could be coming as company's business shifts
HBO declined comment on their status. But the execs soon might depart as the company moves away from the theatrical business, a process begun last year when HBO Films began unwinding its relationship with now-defunct specialty division Picturehouse. The banner will continue producing movies and miniseries for the network under topper Colin Callender.
Nadler has been involved with many of the banner's theatrical hits, including "Maria Full of Grace" and "American Splendor"; Miramax alumna Goldstein was hired in early 2007 to beef up HBO's theatrical development.
Steven Zeitchik reported from New York; Borys Kit reported from Los Angeles.

Entertainment Weekly - Whos Watching Tv Online Not Many
While unions and studios continue wrangling over how revenue from Internet screenings
of TV shows and movies should be divvied up, a new national survey commissioned by
Entertainment Weekly magazine indicates that hardly anyone is watching shows
online. The survey concluded that just 1 percent of viewers most often view TV shows
by downloading or streaming them. That compares with the 60 percent who still watch
all their TV shows the old-fashioned way -- at the time they are transmitted. Another
9 percent watch shows via their DVRs later in the day, while 14 percent do so later
in the week.
